Just remember someone else has it worse than us.

Our troops sit in vehicles wearing body armor for hours on end. The temperatures get well over 60 deg (up to 80 has been recorded). They have to remain alert or suffer the consequences.

Lucky to have a shed! My lathe is in a corner where the house bends. If you have four doors and a roof can't you air condition it?

Clear everything out - put your lathe back in, a bench for a few tools, a comfy chair, a reading lamp and a bar fridge - and then never leave!

Here's the "other side of the coin" ...received this e-mail from my buddy in Kentucky this morning.

<style></style> We're having a terrible ice storm here in Richmond, the town of Berea has been without power all day, and still out.
About half of Richmond is also without power.
The ice is breaking off tree limbs up the street about every 15 seconds------sounds like a war is going on.
Three big limbs from a yard next door as tall as this house fell against my house, and 2 more are hanging on the power line to my house.
Never had this much ice damage in the 53 years I have lived here.

Take care

Saturday Max 40
Sunday Max 40
Monday Max 39

Well Melbourne has been sweltering, though a lot less than up here on the Vic-NSW border. 35 degrees inside the house with the A/C running flat out.

And yes, I've been out in the shed most of the day.....

Doing what? Perhaps some turning? Putting lessons into practice?

Alas not.

Building damn kitchen cabinets. Big drawer units. And a freebie for 30 VB cans.... Well, we drank most of them on completion, so it was a costly exercise.

Here they are:

I've thought long and hard about putting A/C in the shed, but figure both refridgerated or a swampy will ruin my stock of redgum.

I shouldn't complain though, as my two kegs of home brew bubbled quickly this week.

Over here I have to wait for half a minute with the Zippo open before trying to light a fag.

Too much vaporising metho.

Anyway, Hughie (the other one) has heard a barbie is in the offing so we'll prob get a shower or two at the turn-fest tomorrow. Damn well happens every time I get the Weber going. So it'll be warm and humid.

But the workshop air con blows right on the back of the turner at the lathe, so I guess everyone'll want to have a go :D

Interesting side effect to this heat.
Picked up 2 chisels this morning and the handles fell off.

I hung my tool rack up using a cleat that was stuck to the tin wall of the shed with some of that Can't Believe It's Not Nails stuff and I was half expecting to find the whole lot lying on the floor yesterday, but my planes and chisels etc. are all safe for the moment.

Yeah Groggy; got two aggy drains and both have opened up.

Put 'em in after a Boxing day downpour a good few years back, when the water was sheeting down on the surface and building up at the back door.

Bring back the good ole days
