Friday morning a mail order item arrives. Check it out; defective. Rang them. They offered to send missing bits or replace, and also faxed the missing instructions by noon.
Yesterday (Monday) I had it couriered back at their expense, and first thing this morning a sales rep rings to say it had arrived and the replacement would be shipped today.
I'm guessing the item had prob been returned to stock when someone else had found it defective but nonetheless this is excellent service.
