View Full Version : artme in hospital - heart problem

Seems like I am always the bearer of bad news.

artme (Arthur) is in Greenslopes Private Hospital with suspected heart problem.
He was admitted to the cardiograph section of the hospital on Monday after experiencing some chest pains.
Arthur, as you may remember, had heart bypass surgery about 14 months ago.
His wife, Ana, told me this morning that he is having an angiogram today to sort out what is actually wrong.
Apparently, Arthur had another artery that was partially blocked at the time of his bypass operation but the specialist didn't consider it necessary at the time to carry out any procedure on it. They are concerned that this may be somehting to do with his current situation.

I saw Arthur on Australia Day at the Gold Coast BBQ at Neils and he was in great spirit and we all had a good time. He has only recently started back to work after taking time off to recover from his bypass surgery. He returned on Christmas day from a 6 month holiday overseas.

Let us hope that ll goes well for Arthur today and the problem he is experiencing at the moment is not serious.

Ana said she would ring me later today to let me know the angiogram results.

Ana just rang me and said that Arthur has had the tests and they have found that, because of a blockage in one of his arteries the blood is flowing in one direction but not the other. This is as far as I understand it. The long and short of it is that he is to have a procedure, possible early next week, to have a stent put in place. I will try to speak to Arthur tomorrow as today is not a good time for him.
I will probably pay him a visit in hospital within the next couple of days or so. Arthur is a wonderful person and has a terrific sense of humour. but I dont think he will be seeing the funny side of anything at the moment. This will be a big set-back for him.
Will keep you informed of his condition as time goes on.

Arthur,

Hang in there mate and get back on your feet soon. Know how you feel, believe me. Just out again after a torrid couple of weeks in Cardiac Care myself. My point is life goes on and often you're surprised that just when it's darkest, things do get better.

best of luck and a speedy recovery:U.

Hi Arthur

Thinking of you.

I have to go up to Greenslopes for a stay for my annual checkup on Sunday for about three days. I will call and see him to cheer him up if he is still there.

John perhaps you could find out what ward he is in and what his surname is so I can find him.

Get well soon Arthur, those stents are nothing to worry about (DAMHIKT), they make you a new man.

Just be grateful you are in the good hands of good Ozzie doctors and not somewhere on the other side of the world:2tsup:

All the best, Arthur. You're not allowed to escape yet.

Some PM's while Arthur was on tour reminded me of another friend Arthur from my mis-spent youth. Hasn't been deleted yet, so try t=88716 for some levity.

[Oops! It's been moved. YMMV.]

Cheers,
Joe

Saw Arthur in hospital today and he looks good and is in great spirits overall. He said to thank all of you for you good wishes. He will be out of hospital ,all being well, tomorrow.
So the news is all good at the moment. I am sure Arthur will explain things much better than I can when he is able.

Many, many thanks to everyone for heir kind thoughts and good wishes.:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:

Without detailed pics it is a bit hard to explain what happened except to say that, in a nutshell, Munruben's explanation is pretty well spot on.

Everything went very smoothly but the groin is a bit painful as I had the angiogram one day and the stent the next, Also had to lie flat on back with right leg straight for 6 hours first day and 8 hours second day, Quite exhausting really, but what is that compared to better health.?

Will get back to the shed in a week or so.

Again, thanks to all.
