I have asked this question in another part of the forum that appears to be little visited so have hopes of getting an answer here......

I have been asked to look at making a childs cot and have been trying to source the hardware that is in the frame allowing the side to raise up and down.

I have not had much luck with searching this forum nor do the usual suspects, Blum, Haefele etc seem to make these items. Not knowing the trade name for the item is not helping much either.

Can anyone out there point me in the right direction for both the right name of the item and a supplier?

Try hardware.net.au (http://elraco.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=613) (elraco) - they have a nickel plated versin for about $40

I recently build two cots for my now 6wk old twins. I looked at the hardware available in Oz and decided that I liked the hidden fittings. No manufacturers here would sell their hardware to me.

I tried Rockler in the States but they only sell sets with bed springs and won't seperate them so postage costs were extremly expensive.

I ended up using stealth fittings from www.productsamerica.com (http://www.productsamerica.com) They only sell over the phone but were very helpful and they arrived in less than a week.

Thanks, this is the sort of fittings I was after, prefer this sort over the metal tab system of rail catch.

Thank you Dugjac for suggesting Product America as a source for good cot hardware. Would like to know how your cots are working with the Stealth units and other fasteners. Also, did you find slotting/alignments/dimensions were critical for reliable operation ?

I am well advanced in building an 'Heirloom Crib' based on plans from Rockler and looking for best substitutes for their specified gate hardware and spring base.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Bruce, I used the stealth hardware in a cot I made for my little irl over Christmas. It is expensive, but I think it is great qualit, and mine works really well. I wouldn't be buying other connectors from them as you can get the same thing here in Aust much cheaper. I did however get the router bit from them for the slot so that I could be sure it was exactly what I needed.

Bruce, the stealth hardware was easy to install with a router into the rail. You also need a tee slot router bit which I brought from carbitec.

The main hardware is recessed into the rail so that if you want to use the cot as a toddler bed all that is visable is two small pins on each bed end. These can be removed and replaced with "knock down" bolts into the recessed plugs.

The instuctions supplied are in imperial but easy to adjust. The mechanism works well.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Doug.
