I am helping an elderly relative research some antique planes. Unfortunately can not not find info on certain models. He wants info (including market value if possible) on their rarity and history. The planes are Stanley 131, Record 043 in box with 3 cutters, Bailey 4 1/2, Blosta No 80 scraper plane. I am having particular trouble with the Blosta as I believe it is German in origin and of the few internet sites found most are written in German. One of the few references I found for the Bailey was on this forum about someone who restored this type of plane. Any help would be appreciated even if it is a website. I can then print off info and pass it on as he has no computer access or knowledge.

I also have a baily 4 1/2 . I would love to know its possible value as it was owned by my late father in law and I have recenlty learned how wonderful a hand held plane is.

Its in a well worn condition but is wonderful!!!

I think you might find a basic value if you look on ebay but that will give you a market value .... possibly.

Look at http://www.supertool.com/StanleyBG/stan0a.html (http://www.supertool.com/StanleyBG/stan0a.html)
for the Stanley planes. The 131 is hard to find in _good_ condition, inclined to crack.

There is plenty of info on the Web for the Record 043.

The Blosta is probably a poor quality copy of the Stanley #80.

None of the planes is rare or particularly valuable.

Cheers
