Hello all you turners out there, I was wandering if there is anyone that owns a symtec lathe in melbourne area, I would be greatful if I could look at it and adopt my metal lathe to the same principle so I can do some copy turning.

There are better ways to to do copy turning, one way is practice, another way is a copy turning attachment, the first way will you will iearn a lot the second way you will learn very little apart from becoming very good at using glass paper, you won't get a good finish from a non comercial unit, unless you you have many many copies to do the first way is the best. A symtech if you can find one would be way down the bottom of my list

How many copies? How complicated is the profile? How much sanding do you wish to do? I'd first consider this: http://www.delorie.com/wood/tips/parallax-jig.html or something like it.
