Hi all woodturners
I´m a hobbyist woodturner from Norway. I have been turning for 10 years no. I started turning solid wood, bu the last 5 years I have turned segmented works. First closed segmented, but after some time I tryed open segmented turnings. This technique was first time introduced by a Japanees woodturner in 1990.
This technique I learned from a book written by The American woodturner William Smith, www.smithart.us (http://www.smithart.us)
This is my tallest turnings. It is 420 mm high, 280 mm in diameter, there is 4 different wood spicies and it contains of 1221 segments.
It took 3 month to build it and 4 to 5 hours turning and finishing.
