Oh OK.
the pot is Australian red cedar, the keyrings, tough one, too hard. I know several timbers that colour but it's too hard to say.

I believe that other one over yonder is Unk wood from the Chinese Unk tree.

Would it help if I discribed it?

It had a very close curly looking grain, and the dark bits were a surprise. I thought it might be some sort of burl, but it was too soft. Not as soft as cedar or silky oak or campher, but maybe aoub the same as blackwood or sassy.

It was pinkish before I polished it, then went a bit more brown.

Do any of these ring a bell?
tallowood, coachwood, brushbox?

Cheers
Michael

I found a few more blanks of the same stuff. Now I know that I got it from Carl, so if we can't work it out I'll ask him. :)

Only if you hit the bell with them

No, not those from your description or the blanks. But because they are from Carl, I think it might be something called mountain oak in the area, some type of casuarina.
