Following from the Charity/comp thread here is the bowl that was kindly given to me by Artme for me to "finish off"

Well i thought the other day i had finished it off permanently but thought well if i'm going to have a go at salvaging this was the ideal oportunity.

So out with the Araldite (24 hour stuff) and the marsking tape

Left for a couple of days then checked and it was straight enough so thought here goes.

101017 101018

I left the tape omn the outside (hoping to limit the peices that hit my head) and cleaned the inside up and finished it off.

101019 101020

Turned it over and removed the tape

101021 101022

Then finished off the bottom - the only peice i lost from the original size was the top 10mm of the rim as it lost a peice when it broke and didnt look that good so i trimmed it down a bit.

the front after the trim up

Next i mounted it to finish off the base and gave it a foot to sit on

101026

So the finished bowl just about 10mm lower than original and with a couple of feature lines in it.

Thanks Arthur for the donation and sorry for the mishap.

Wow, good save!

I didn't know you could do that. One exploded on me the other day and I just gave up on it.

It looks good! Too good to have let it go, hey!

It did come into 3 seperate peices and finished in 3 different locations in the shed - The only reason it didnt go with the manicured firewood was it was given to me as a donation for the charity thing.

Thanks to all for the comments.

Cheers

From the pix, if you hadn't told us it'd been in pieces I wouldn't have picked it.

And to keep it so close to original lines afterwards? Great save! :2tsup:

Not very good but here is one as i got it from Artme - I neglected to take one as it lay in peices.

Thanks all for the responses. The lathe speed was watched very carefully after it was glued - not really brave i'm afraid.

Cheers
