Newsflash: Toy car maker continues to grapple with the global economic downturn.

Amid a deepening sense of gloom about the nation's economic outlook Australian based toy car manufacturer Sir Stinkalot Automotive has been given notice by US president Barack Obama of up to two months to come up with viability plans or to face bankruptcy. The selling off the stockpiles is just part of a global plan to turn around the fortunes of the car manufacturer which have been on the decline for some time.

A report released today says the government supported stimulus package to prop up Australia's automotive industry is doomed to fail. Certain car makers are so desperate to re-ignite their ailing businesses that some cars are now half the price of what they were this time last year. A spokesperson for Sir Stinkalot Automotive said off the record that prices were slashed to $5.00 for a family car at last weekends Little River Primary School Fate and signs indicated a strong surge in sales. “"We did this as a prudent measure to reduce the stockpiling of vehicles” CEO Stinky said.

The economic down turns comes on the back of rising fuel prices experienced last year. More than 10% of Australian motorists have traded in their four-wheel-drive or large eight and six-cylinder vehicles in an effort to reduce growing fuel costs. Mr Weston said this trend had seen car owners offsetting rising fuel costs by purchasing a toy car to ensure they can maintain their car usage. The rising fuel costs did not impact on Sir Stinkalot Automotive as they are new into the toy car market this year.

Sir Stinkalot Automotive will be forced to layoff a large proportion of their South African workforce due to a massive drop in demand. The good news for the Australian based staff is that a restructure in the head workshop will see the Geelong based workforce retooled in an attempt to fast track the production of the wine rack that was promised to the Stinkette for Christmas a number of years ago.

"It's the Economy, Stupid" CEO Stinky said.

I run a Men's Shed for frail aged men who are 65+ or with a disabilty. We make small items, community projects eg. possum boxes for WIRES, toys for charity. Your cars are exactly what we are looking for to supply a charity we are working with that fills shoeboxes with various items (one of which is a toy) and distributes them to third world countries at Christmas time. Do you have a plan for these or are there any books you can recommend?

I didn't take the designs from any books ..... just used my memory for designs I had seen, and liked, in the past made by others and drafted up my own plans, tweeking where I thought they were needed. If you google " free wooden car plans" you can find a few ones on line.... one of the best sites I've found is this one.... scroll down and you'll find several free plans for all sorts of things, car with trailer, race car, trucks..... lots of other toys too, that you might want to use for your charity boxes.... don't forget the girls either! :)
