:D I'm sorry I started an arguement! I,m sure Tex would have conversed with the Mexican presidnet in Spanish or es panol. Fench is a very difficult language to learn, although it was the judicial language in the ancient courts of England too. We have been snubbed by most european countires before(Tex-admittely has not helped engender France, or Germany lately). This is and will remain the country where most people, aisians and europeans ,want to come. It is not homogeous-this in itself creates problems as well as it contributes to greatness. I'm ging to get off my broken chair leg and close by saying,I'm sure glad Monsouir Lafyette thought of us in a better light or was he just trying to get back at England? I live in a French city-Louisville

would dispute US as a place most people want to go to. Up til now I wouldn't have objected to visiting the USA on holiday ( although it has never been high on my list ) but it is now definately off my list with the prospect of being finger-printed like a common criminal if I go there for a pleasure trip. I recognise that there is an argument that says if i have commited no crime then I shouldn't object to being fingerprinted but I DO Object as a matter of principle, in the same way that I would object strenuously to being required to carry ID about with me ... its bad enough that here in oz we have to carry our drivers licences while we're driving ( v. uncivilised ). Suspect that a significant percentage of Brits at least would opt for Australia or NZ or Canada in preference to the USA as a place to migrate to ... I count myself as being extremely fortunate to have been able to come here.

After some soul searching, you are probably correct. I am, as has been suggested in this colum, not in touch. Ipre cieve the USA as still the best ! I've spent 20yrs in her navy and don't regret it. Things are not always glorious in glory. I'm fighting like hell to get my elderly moms VA pension restored. The govt. beauracy is tough. My one question to you is this: Why do terroists want to destroy the world? It is sad that people will not reach some sort of equal understanding and consideration for each other.
As documents are now being released, we are indeed lucky not to have the little corpal runnng the world-it was soo close. It seems like every generation, theres an enemy of free people everywhere. Religion, faith and the right to pursue one's own destiny is probably not a God given right as indicated by our Bill of Rights, but I wish it were true-not as an American, but as a member of the human race. :D
