Hard rubbish collection around these here parts. Got a couple of logs of Lily-of-the-valley Bush. Pieris forrestii I think. Only s'pose to be a shub, but the "logs" are 10ish inches diameter. So is it usable?:? Feels quite fine grained, and seems to have a pink seem running in it nearly like an ambrosia stain.

:whs:

I think it's one of those woods that are best turned green or not at all - splits badly during drying - but my memory is growing worse & I could well be thinking of something else. :-

Sourwood? Thanks Ern. I guess it could be that, but my gardening book says its from china or japan and only growes to 2 maters. Although I'm pretty sure this one was a bid bigger cos I was admiring it only a month ago. :C I hope they plant something else nice instead.

http://cat.hollyridgeonline.com/images/pieris_redhead2.jpg is a pic. The flowers look right at least.

Hey look!:oo: Its poisonis. Perhaps that's why it was taken out of the garden. Flowers and leavesw are toxic. Not the wood I think.:-
