I moved to Gippsland in July this year after 34 years of living in the busy suburbs, best move I ever made. I moved my workshop and tools etc in a shipping container, was a bit of work but settled in now, continuing to run my woodwork business from Heyfield, shipping worldwide, orders taken through the internet.
I make wooden boxes, wooden signs etc but also qualified as an electronics technician. My workshop is wood based but I have other interests, inventions, jigs, tools/machines gadgets and electronic junk in boxes I never finish but hang on to in case I need some day.
I'm intersted in meeting people of general cleverness as well.:D
No replies so far to your post. There must be other clevernesses out here.
Hello Gippy people???

Can I ask where you get your timber from for your guitar making?
Do you know any good woodworking contacts in the Gippsland area?

In warragul there is a woodworkers club. The contact number is (03)56267034 would probably make some good contacts there they seem like a good bunch of people. joining is cheap and entitles you to use any equipment that the club owns. often milling good and different timber which becomes available to members. I mill what ever timber I come across when I get the chance and will be milling some blackwood in the new year.

Good to meet some more gippy ring ins.
p.s. I am a bit of a nutty professor myself.

I know a few guys here who can supply some really nice DRY woods,,, if you can catch them at the right time!
I try to book a time to catch them or its just by chance,,, a rare chance!
