Google sketchup understand the golden ratio too. When you stretch a rectangle to the golden ratio, it tells you (as it also does for squares).

I recently Built a deck part way around our A/G Pool, & had to make a set of steps for it.

I developed this Steps Calculator to make my life a little easier.

Hope it helps somebody else.
