Hi everyone I came across a big pile of wood on the footpath on way home.
so been a good citizen I asked the owner if it was OK to help Myself to it.
ended up with bootful of future bowls.
I've seen this type of trees planted on nature strips, but don't know what it is.
hope someone here can help'
Thanks in advance.Cheers Tony.:):)

The bark reminds me of stringy bark, was it a eucalypt?

...if it was here in the states, I'd say some sort of cedar (especially from the look of the bark). No telling what aussie species it is, but it sure does look like you'll be getting some nicely colored turnings from it Tony. :2tsup:

I'd say Agonis flexuosa (Willow myrtle)

I'd say Agonis flexuosa (Willow myrtle)

I would have said that from the first photo, not many other things have that much included bark

I think it is a eucalypt if my tree lopper is correct. I had one in my front yard and I think he called it a spearmint gum or some such. The orange heartwood is very familiar. It splits like mad, especially the heartwood, so seal it early.

Thanks John. I've sealed it already.
