I'm using pointed craft blades, and finding that the tips break off easily, which makes it difficult to cut tight curves. Also, they don't seem terribly sharp. What do you use, and are they any good?

From my very limited looks at it, since you are using (and breaking) the tip all the time, you use a stone or whatever to grind off the tip from the back of the blade (if this makes sense at all), that way you keep "making" new sharp tips on the blade.

Site linky thingy (http://www.marquetry.org/the_marquetry_knife.htm).

Thanks Cruzi, I'll try that.

Hi,
You are right, the craft knife is far too soft, no matter how you sharpen it.
I never use craft knife. A standard Stanley knife is the best. You break off the blade when it gets blant. It does all the intricate cuts, strong but flexible. Exactly what you need. The craft knife is the leftover from the 50's I guess.
