bobkot 10th June 2009, 12:29 AM 30 years ago when I was completing my marquetry apprenticeship back in Europe, I came across a golden yellow veneer. It is as yellow as an egg yolk. No kidding. With time it did not change tone or colour, and I do not know its name. Ever since I am searching for it.
Very hard veneer, it was very difficult to cut.
Any idea?
thank you:D
jcousins 10th June 2009, 05:17 AM try satinwood - aka pau amarillo - it's brilliantly yellow.

jimbur 10th June 2009, 09:58 PM No idea if it has ever been used as a veneer but I've seen bright yellow pomegranate wood.

texx 14th June 2009, 08:17 PM Rhodosphaera rhodanthema , or tulip satin wood , or some times called deep yellow wood
bobkot 18th June 2009, 04:20 PM Very nice work. Good to see nice marquetry.
The veneer I am searching for is actually MUCH more yellow if you beleive it! Like the yolk of the farm eggs, sun yellow. Yellow heart grain is looks different too. But you bet I will look into it, see how this veneer performs.
Thanks for the reply.
