Does anyone know where I can buy some "Ancient Redgum" (Eucalyptus camaldulensis)? I bought some about a year and a half ago but stocks are running very low as it's a pleasure to work with. I only need small dimension (almost offcut size) as I make jewelery from it. I can saw down larger bits if necessary.

I recently bought some small quantities (thanks Eugine) of Myall (Acacia homolophylla) that might rival the "blackness" of the glorious Ancient Redgum but as yet haven't got into it. I'm currently making a string of hearts bracelet from "Purple Heart" (Acacia umforgot) which has amazing colour. Anyone used these woods before? I would be interested in your thoughts expecially about less known Australian woods.

Don't know where you are in Oz Harry II ... but if in/around Melb you could contact the furniture maker who exhibits in Marmalades in Yea - he has a local source. And I believe there's a sand miner in the Kiewa valley who comes across bits and sells them for an unbelievable price! Liquid nugget does a good job of ebonising I'm told ;-}
