carving a coat of arms
I am looking around for some body who is able to carve a coat of arms. Its to be a house warming present. Probably around 12"x12" or 30cmx30cm or so.
I have no idea on the cost of such a commission or type of wood best suited for the purpose.

Hi hughie. One of the members of tha SA carvers club is a professional who does these things for a living. The timbers he uses are the usual ones for carving, from mahogany to jelutong. You should expect around four figures for something like 50x50cm. Let me know if you want to get in touch with him.
