    Default aussie birds

G'day, this is a carving on australian red cedar, that came from the old observatory in sydney, it is of a kingfifher (KOOKABURRA) a parrot and a blue wren below, with gum nuts, and gum leaves on either side, it was finished with raw linseed oil and turps,

    Default carving

I'm not usually a fan of carving, but that is rather nice, well balanced and great timber
    Well done

    Thumbs up

Great to see CD!! A really lovely piece!!

I'm rather fond of our birds and I always like to see them portrayed in any art form. I am particularly fond of leadlight door panels with wrens.

thank's Greg, yes the timber is nice, easy to carve, although the dust does affect me some,ARTME these birds were the first that I had tried to do, I was quite pleased with them, but they don't stand out real well, that's why when I carved the BLACK COCKIES(earlier post) I stained and painted them, I stuffed them up, so in future I'll leave things in their natural state.CD.
