Default Aussie timbers for chip carving

Can anyone tell me which Australian timbers are best for chip carving. The books say basswood (American) or limewood (British) but what is the equavalent down here?

Most of the aussie timbers are ok, the exceptions being the very hard species.
    Tas Oak
    Ash
    Blackwood
    Red Cedar
    are all good to carve
so is redgum though the curly grain can be a bit tricky.
