    Default I Saw Carving Today

Today I met someone I had not seen for about 30 years and during the conversation he showed me photographs of his carvings, a lot of them were copies of classic Italian painters such as Da Vinci etc. They were absolutely stunning to look at and he just shrugged his shoulders and thought nothing of it. I wish others could see his work but unfortunately that won't happen. I don't know why I am writing this, I suppose to just tell you what I have seen and that I feel a bit privileged to have done so. The best way to describe it would be to say it is top end art gallery stuff that people would pay serious money for.

    Chris,

I have an idea what you mean. Not in quite the same league, but a tradie (sparks) working on site next to our Men’s Shed wandered in for a chat recently and to see what we’re up to. Lovely bloke. Next day he turned up with a photo album full of his carving and scrollsaw work. Wow! Put anything we could do to shame, but he thought it was nothing special.

Somehow it is refreshing to find these unassuming, modest heroes in a loud and self-centered world.

    Modest and unassuming is cool.
It would still be nice to see some pictures of the work though.
