A new member showing a few of my carvings
Have been carving for 41/2 years so far. I am enjoying greatly. I have been learning with a group in Woodcraft Manningham in Templestowe Melbourne Aust.
They have 4 groups meeting at different times every week so it has been a great place to learn. I now happen to be the President so you will see another post which shows a woodcarving course starting soon. Enough of the club
The swan & knot are both using Jelutong timber. The knot was for a bit of fun.
Hopping to add a few more pictures soon

Welcome.
Very cleanly done. Like the knot. Conversation piece for sure.
Always curious: what the finish on the swan?

I was waiting for the question on the finish
Jelutong does not have much grain
step 1. Light spray with Cabots Cabathane clear spray satin (light sand)
Step 2. Using cheap water colour tubes from art shop (about $15 for 15 tubes) mixed up the white colour tube with water, then painted on leaving for a short time then rubbing off
Step 3. wait to dry
Step 4. 3 coats of Cabots Cabothane satin spray with light sanding
Using the water colour is so easy

Nice work, Jelutong is easy to work with but no grain, you have carved 2 pieces that work well with.

I like the knot. How long did it take to complete?

The knot took 3 weeks to carve. At first I had a picture but was too hard to work out. So off to Clark rubber store to purchase some square rubber in the length. I then tied a knot then fixed the ends so I now had a 3D model to copy. Sorry no pictures of the rubber model
