What can I say that the others haven't already covered. Amazing work as usual. Hope the back gets better, I have been nursing mine along lately hoping it stays together. Maybe you could carve me a new spine Undie. Would have to spotted gum or something don't think Huon would take the weight

You could call it 'Plucked Clean' or how about 'Si-Fi Anseriforme Fossil'.
Anseriforme is the order that water fowl belong to.Cliff.

Best wishes for your back Undi, you can't fix that with wood pins.
Looking forward to seeing this bird in his proper habitat.
BTW, Cliff, with those talons there is absolutely no chance of it being related to geese...

Great piece of work Undie, how about "Darwinian design" as it looks like the creationists and Darwinians would have a field day with this one

thanks for the feedback folks
The piece maybe the start of a theme for an upcoming exhibition.
The idea started after reading the bio of Captain John Hunter, who in 1778(amongst other things) sent to the Royal science academy in England, a whole bunch of skeletons and skins belonging to critters he'd found in Australia.......eg; a 7 foot tall hopping mouse and a flippered duck billed egglaying thing. etc.
Naturally they thought him a fraud and a cad.
Anyways..in my imaginings, it is intrepid adventurer Captain underfoot sending those cognac quaffing, cigar smoking buffoons in the academy his discoveries...and his critters will pop their monacles and cause much kerfuffle.
not really sure if this is a correct motivation for making sculpture we'll see what happensLast edited by underfoot; 2nd August 2010 at 07:37 PM. Reason: non PC
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?
