Just started work on this piece again after nearly a year...Evicted all the spiders and mud wasps and started overlaying the bones with machine parts and metal bits...
( ..it really hurts weld spattering huon pine)
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

One of my all time favourite carvings.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Missed the original posts and thought that this was a very large piece. Then went to the original post and read from there. Will be watching.

I'm thinking something like "Aukmentation"..though not sure if most folks would get it.
Aw thanks Ww...high praise indeed
No such thing artme..(but thanks) and the original idea was to contrast the organic with the machine...however, it did take a great deal of effort to rip into the huon.

Reminds me of a bird like version of Herman Munster, wierd and bizarre in a good sort of way but then there's the dark, disturbing thing I see too but I am slightly hung over. Shaping the Huon like you have must have been close to subliminal or something like that

I'm a retired biologist. That "beast" is remarkable! I'd hate to meet one after dark that still had meat & feathers. Possibly an Undiesaur?

I showed this thread to a sculptor friend of mine from Kangaroo Island and he remarked that you must really understand the anatomy of bones and joints. He was most impressed from a technical point of view. Me... I was more taken with the 'WOW' factor it presented. Not sure I like the addition of metal parts, I thought he was pretty bloody impressive the way he was but I'll hold off until I see it completed.
In anticipation...
