A Comment on Whatever
A carved out section from a Red Coolabah burl gave me a chance to see if I could carve a hand, couldn't resist the gesture. The height of the hand is 105mm, with the stand, 170mm. Finished with satin polyurethane. Mostly rotary tools were used in the work which seemed to take a month, but was 8 hours. I whip it out now whenever someone needs a wordless reply.....

Silence is golden. It appears to be an index finger (from this far north).
A middle finger, one half of a victory "V", is what we consider decisive.
Other than that crap, a nicely anatomated gesture, well proportioned and very, very well finished.

A truly admirable piece of carving!!
Unfortunately I have a problem with "the bird". I find it so offensive the only way I can cope with the gesture is to visualize it exploding!!

Very nice xpro, love the grain in the burl and beautifully finished, and yeah that finger could come in handy sometimes

I believe only that I should make some comment which might enable progress.
I expect the same in return. Throw rocks if you need to.
If and when I say nothing, that's only as I have not made up my mind what to say.
While "nothing" is a trite solution, I think that we are all here for more than that.
This is a somewhat more sophisticated critique kind of site than some others that I'm in.
Like a freakin' Zoo = people pass by and have absolutely no contribution whatsoever.
No, I'm not an "expert." Yes, I sell carvings, kitchen tools in particular to pass the time.
The other carvings grab my head. I think that you know that.
