    Default Big Dragon Lovespoon

Just finished. Lovespoon carved from single piece of American curly cherry timber. Features chain links simple Celtic knotwork heart leading to the main feature dragon on the front of the lovespoon. The dragon is nestled amid plant and floral motifs. Initials for the recipient couple are under the heart on the left.

A central heart shape on the back amid more stylised versions of the plant motif contains an inscription and eight small hearts are distributed on the front and the back.

The timber is finished with thinned polyurethane and polished with traditional wax.

Wow, magnificent job as always David, I like the colour of that wood as well. Just wondering how long it takes you to carve a spoon with that much detail?

Thank you Rob. I have no exact idea of the time taken but from photos and dates as much time as I could get on and off over February. I will be posting a step by step account of the process on my blog shortly. The blog stalled while I headed toward the deadline for carving the lovespoon. Let’s just say I’m an un-economic worker, who works for a boss (me) who is able to be kept in the dark regarding time taken.

Ha Ha sounds very like me, I get asked quite a lot, "how long did it take" but for me it's a stop start process so I stop counting the hours and just enjoy the journey, it takes as long as it takes

    What a beautiful, sinuous carving!
