Default I found this in My huon pine

In a recent thread I asked for some ideas on what to do with a piece of huon pine that I had been given and received some good suggestions . I have eventually come up with this , my first carving.

I cut the rough section from the huon pine and glued this to a frame of tassie myrtle .

I copied the gecko from a website .The finish is Traditional wax and the gecko is about 20cm long and just rests on the "log".
It has taken a while as I have been recuperating after having a total knee replacement . I have found doing this to be a good activity while I was semi mobile . I still have to have the other knee done so will have to find another carving project.

    g'day Peter

It came up really good, you made good use of the
weathered section too. I really liked the shot looking
down on it, you really captured the subject well.
Maybe your next project needs to be a walking stick?
To help with your knee rehab.

    Cheers

I really like that, well done!

I've had time to fill in like yourself after being hit head on by a car on my motorbike which broke my femur, knee and shoulder. There is not a lot you can do while waiting for the healing to happen.

Look forward to seeing what the result of your next carving!

Mine was very similar. Car didn't see me turned in front of me. Broke my bike in two and wrote her car off. That was in 02 and I am still going through physio and gym rehab programs.

Hope you pull up better once healed. Luckily you have a nice little hobby to keep you busy, nice work!

Won't show SWMBO that one... we have a lizard theme going in our house and I really dont think I have the skill or patience to do that... I like it a lot though
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.
