Default this one I 'm not so sure where it goes, carving in stainless

    Carved stainless steel buckle

It all cam about after frustrated efforts to buy a good belt not made in China with a die cast buckle and one thing lead to another and this is the result.

The design is loosely based upon the Maori fish hook in 316 stainless 40 mm x 80 mm x 6 mm. In order to get a decent image I had to acid wash it to knock back the reflection and in so doing ended up with a few dark marks that will be polished out later.

..Nice one hughie ..what tools did you use for shaping?
(just wondering because I've got some Aussie desert timber that'll need the same tools)

what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

Drilled the basic shape out and filed it with metal working files, used a dremel on some detail, also engineering needle files, wet and dry for final finish

WOW Hughie. You set yourself a difficult job especially to do it in stainless. But the result is beautiful!!! You will get the Carrot of the Week award. Roughly, how long did it take to "carve" out?
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Fantastic. I, for one, have absolutley no objection to seeing metal sculpture in here.

Reflections: If they're just actinic points, you can dumb them down with a little wipe with
    children's oil-base modelling clay/plasticine.

Very nice. Reminds me of a bone carver's work here in Nimbin. Do you use saburr tooth burrs on the dremel?
