D1 and I hadn't seen this piece since the muddy install on a building site in June last year..
Forum member 'Scribbly gum' (who visits Port Mac on occasion) was kind enough to take and post some pics recently...Ta mate ..
D1..who is now backpacking in central America (on the proceeds of this job) had a moment of "extasis" on seeing the piece finished....(that strange detachment from the finished object...the "did I make that"? moment)
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

I really like the organic/biological sense that I get from it. I expect it to walk off quite gracefully at any moment.
I'll bet there's a story going 'round among the taggers that somebody who tried, is now kind of stuffed up inside the piece.

I had to look it up too. My own daughter, I now realise did a similar thing, but went to South America.
I take my hat off to D1 and own daughter: Not every girl would have the courage and determination to go on such an adventure. My own belief is that it is the background in sculpture that gives them the backbone required.

It's the Latin root for the word exctasy ..it means "to be displaced or outside oneself"
....it's a term I've heard a number of artists use when they stand back and look at a finished piece and wonder... "did I make that"? ..
It describes an odd detachment from the piece that you 'know' you have just made..and yet are not quite sure how it got there...
...Doesn't everyone experience that feeling occasionally?

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.

Yep.. it hasn't been tagged ...yet... which is odd because there's a bit of tagging about
the original plans had the concrete plinths this size and proportion..
then the architects got hold of them and they had to be dug 3mtrs deep ..
..and realising the corten was going to rust for years, I rendered the plinth with a little catchment and causeway to direct the rust stains..it seems to be working

I'd think it'd look wonderful all lit up at night too, were you/D1 involved in the lighting design?
