I really, really, really like that.
Congratulations on picking up the commission.
My last sculpture, 22 years ago while studying a BA at Southern Cross Uni, only got a C, which pales in utter and complete insignificance to this. I'll be very interested to watch the progress.

That looks good Undy (like pic N 2 the most ) , even at this size , and as I've started to think that "the bigger the better" , I cant wait to see it full size
Whatever has happened to you , I hope you are OK soon , and back in businessIt's a slow and painful process...the secret is, dont mind the pain.(Ian Norbury)

Thanks for the replies folks always appreciated..
I'll post some WIP pics of the process.
To lower costs I'll be supplying the metal fabricators with a full size model of the piece in 9mm ply which will be dismantled for patterns...then re-mantled to copy.
I have employed my teenage daughter ( which is a rather wierd experience) as Minion no.1, and discovered that she is enthusiastic and capable.
here's some pics..
1..making patterns..
2 .meeting kevin..
3..sharing a joke..
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

Somehow missed this, probably because of the trouble we've had with the internet.
Like the concept, it should look good in real life.

No.1 daughter has just about finished the full scale ply mock up of the largest of the three elements (remember she had never even used a tape measure let alone any powertools)
...a couple of broken fingernails (so she cuts them all short) a couple of splinters and a few bleeding cuts..no dramas
However when she kicks me out of my favourite sittin spot because it's raining outside.
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

That full scale mockup Supergirl is working on really helps with the look of the curves, scale models always look "tight" to me. Look foward to seeing the finished piece.

Fantastic to have a talented Supa daughter that can just takeover at the drop of hat or car whatever the case me be. I hated having apprentices that would always say "I know" when you were trying to tell them how to do something and then didn't have a clue. When I started taking my oldest son out on some jobs (a few years back, he was 18) with me and he would say "I know" I felt like knocking him down but he did know and does know stuff straight off the bat, I think there my be more passed on in geans than we know. If this is the case, then Supa daughter like you will have a whole heap of skills she or maybe you didn't know she had. No 1 son is now a boiler maker and looking for something more challenging.
The sculpture is big, I bet she gets a real kick out of once its done, you won't get here out of your studio. Keep up the great work Supagirl

Well I certainly didn't know she could handle power tools with such ease..if she learned from me it was through osmosis or something
Here she is grinding plinths( corrugated iron mockups) ...1st time on an angle grinder using those super thin cutting discs (warned her about blade pinch)..blades pinched..no dramas..
She's finished the first two (full size) patterns and 3 plinths and started positioning them in front of the shed..
What impresses me mostly is that she is picking up on my silly mistakes
and THEN.. won't let good enough be good enough...insisting that it does'nt look quite right....she'll tweak it this way and that..(disregarding dads insistance that "she'll be right) until she is happy with it..
DAMN!!!..she's becoming an artist.....
........and I had such bigger plans for her..
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?
