Thanks moikel, these great big sculpture exhibitions like "sculpture by the sea" are great for the viewers and organisers but very rarely much good for the sculptors..
The logistics of getting large scale pieces built and installed on site ( with only a slim chance of a sale) can be pretty daunting.
You have to go big because of the site and not many people have the space or money for a big sculp..
and most sculptors I know that go BIG on spec have a yard full of them..
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

Finally carted off the model and all the patterns to the metal fabrictors (two trips) in the trailer.
After 3 months D1 is becoming quite comfortable in the shed...some new stuff she knows is ...mig welding, sanding, chainsawing, bronze casting, sanding, die grinding, possum chasing, sanding etc etc.
also both Kevins seem to have adopted her..(and ignore me)

Onya Undy, milestone reached, don't be too forlorn though, I've noticed that animals tend to be attracted to the female kind more often than not, there's something in that

Excellent work the both of you, and the Kevins. bronze casting is something I would realy like to get into one day when I get a spare minute or two, all in good time I,m sure.
Put an entry into SxS this year but as I didn't have the piece/pieces made and I only put in drawings sketches they said I should have put in a model, nice if they had said that in the paperwork. So I will build it this year and have it ready for next year, will take me a year to make anyway.
Ok what is D1s next project? and if she can do all that she can type I'm sure so we should have K1 & K2 as the avitar and D1 on here soon

Looking at the model pics again I reckon its all about working together. Which the making of the project has been too. The pieces look like they are supporting each other, but are not touching. Ready to catch if they fall perhaps? The negative space in between them is alive with a kind of magnetism of the pieces wanting to bridge the gap. The small one is kind of protected too. One big metal family?
Sorry about getting all ............ ..... I'll go and have my coffee now.anne-maria.

Undie and D1
This has been an excellent project showing really good skills of working together. The thread has been an example of WIP. I am now looking forward to seeing the components in their final form.
I am presuming the cylindrical bases are concrete and I think you referered to steel for the sculpture itself, but others have referred to bronze. Perhaps you could clarify the final medium and perhaps a little about the casting process as my impression is that it too is a specialist area and quite intricate with not the least of it being the sheer scale.
I agree with Claw Hama and Sawdustmaker that D1 should have her own profile on the web. She has more than earned it.

I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
