Hmmm... so this is the forum Dad keeps talking about.
"D1" here, just had a look at the WIP dads been posting on here.. doesn't he make me look good!! glad hes left out all the confused looks and silly mistakes.

Working with dad has been an AMAZING experience! I do have to remind myself every now and then, how lucky i am to have this kind of oppourtunity. Even if i do get funny looks when i turn up to Ballet with splinters poking through my ribbons and sawdust flicking out of my hair everytime i turn.

Anyway i'm quite sure that I am the one who is getting the most out of this.. I'm learning all sorts of skills that I'm sure will come in handy. I didnt even know how to measure things properly, or use a drill before this. Not to mention how much fun it is!! and i get to hang with possums, kangaroos, fish, birds, dogs and of course Kevins.

I'll try to wrap this up so i dont get soppy and boring. But i have to point out that a whole lot of my friends around my age, couldn't even imagine having a relationship like this with their dads.
    I guess I'm just lucky!

what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

You've done a brilliant job D1, and the splinters and sawdust - that's added extras the other girls won't understand or appreciate, especially given the time and fun of working along side of your Dad.

Indeed you are and privileged too. If you never do anything like this again it will have been a life experience. If it steers you down a path you have never before considered, then it is a bonus.

I'd say you have inherited some genes there which should not be wasted.

Enough with the shmaltz already D1 and get back to work You're destroying the manly forum persona that I've established

The piece will be fabricated in 6mm 'corten' which is a high nickel content steel that doesn't need a surface finish ...it gets an orangey oxidised patina without deteriorating.

    Undie

I understand your dilema. One tenuous hint at a sensitive side and and the macho image becomes nothing more than a faint, nostalgic memory. No wonder the male has to maintain the rough, tough persona.

Thanks for the final medium update. Looking forward to viewing the finished article.

Have you seen tai chi "push hands" ? I have been learning this recently for my next grading. That's what the scuplure reminds me of too. Kind of combative, but working together too.

Extremely nice work D1 and welcome to the forum

We'd all like to see you and your dad's next collaboration

I just hope that one or both of my boys show some sort of interest in my hobby when they are of age - but neither is likely to be dropping sawdust at ballet , Now there's a picture

Oops sorry I dozed off in TL's patsy Tai Chi thing. In Karate its called sticky hands and you know all about it if you don't stay stuck to your opponent, you end up with a thick ear or worse.
Sheds are dangerous places and you can end up with a thick ear or worse too so it is not the place for all Women, only those with some grit. TL time you did some Karate and leave the Chi Tea for old folk or Women without grit. You have grit.
D1 has grit too, ballet, way too tough for the likes of us guys.

Don't be too concerned, it could be a lot worse. My wife has mentioned on a number of occasions, when I might not have cleaned myself up as well as I might, that she has a fair idea of what it would be like to make love to Pinocchio .

BTW, it may not be prudent for that theme to be developed. I think I can already hear the comments hitting the keyboard.

    TL

A little bit like a more gracious version of "wipe on, wipe off" but without the car and I can't recall what the car was. (Apologies to the "Karate Kid.") And get a load of those leg rotations. Can you do that TL? I could be really impressed.

My working experiences with my son have been similar, but leaning heavily towards the combative with almost a complete dearth of finesse. Having said that working with my daughter is calmer. Must be that daughter father thingy.

Undie and D1 seem to have it all worked out.
