Hi,
I too have just spotted this thread. I'm impressed with the sculpture, and do like the way it looks remarkably different from different angles.
I must admit though, as the father of three daughters, I'm enjoying the interaction between you and your daughter, and her obvious talent, enthusiasm and ability the most
I'd be terribly proud to be displaced in such a way
Cheers,
Dave

Thought I'd just mention an unwritten rule around here (does that now make it written??? )
There are no mention of silly mistakes, just as there are (usually) no mentions of the amount of money one spends recitifying them, or indeed the number of breaths one takes when copmpleting a project. It's just a normal, assumed part of the process
Oh, the one exception are the silly mistakes that land you in ER. but they're over in the Safety forum so we don't look at them too often
Cheers,
Dave

So the model is at the fabricators, all the patterns are cut and the components are being tacked together...and the blokes putting it together have taken ownership of it (suggesting tweaks and adjustments)...
and me..I look on while D1 and the welders discuss the work... ..hmmmm
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

So what are you going to do with yourself now D1 and the fabricators have effectivel supplanted you

Nice metal workshop Undie, love the trailer position. D1 good to see your is taking it to the finish, next you'll be welding, grinding, painting it
Don't let them steel fellows fool you metal bends better than wood does.

Undie
Thanks for the pix. It's really starting to take shape (sorry).
I was completely on the wrong track before as I was thinking in terms of casting and obviously it is being fabricated. Are there any special welding considerations for the "corten"?

..Nope that lathe sold..so no penturning for this little black duck
I just learned that it can be mig welded with mild steel wire...the weld takes on the properties of the cor-ten (according to those that know)
A bit of an update...deadline for install is looming (has loomed)
plinths have been poured onsite..drove down (5hrs return) to measure them up..bucketing rain, sticky red mud everywhere and the plinth moulds were full of water...arranged a crane for next week (maybe)
meanwhile back at the ranch..components are being put together
what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

God, don't let D1 hook up with a Sheetie, there a layabout usless lot. I know, I was one/ were 1, but then me changed.
On a more sensible note, how are you fixing them to the plinth Undie (should I ask yet?)
