It's beautiful. Have you determined the finish yet?
Comforting to me to see a bench with so little open work space,
    just like mine!

    WX is +3C here, too.
No snow yet today, freezing level maybe 600m.

    It's nice ! Love it.
Here it's just starting to be warmer. Though, unusual, it didn't froze for the whole winter. Just had snow a couple of times.

Thanks. I am carving three sets of three small objects, shells, bones and other bits and pieces and making some small burl musk boxes for them to go in and also to sit on as a display plinth.

    Nice work.

This guy's carvings may give you some inspiration. One of his favourite timbers was mango but I am sure he would have liked to use Huon Pine if it was available locally. He lived in Bundaberg, Queensland.

Did some more carving today. The box is burl Musk. One more piece to carve for this set, not sure what it will be yet.

Small, true-to-life carving like this has got to be one of my favourite themes. You've done a beautiful job. Just curious... cowries are usually quite shiny. Do you intend to finish this one with anything or is it a 'done deal'?

Hi. Thanks. They will have a very light wax polish applied but will retain the slightly textured surface. I see many carvings in wood that for my taste are over finished, perfectly smooth and shiny etc. Even though cowries are often shiny in nature I like to have this fine texture on my carvings which I feel is more tactile.

I decided on a fresh water crayfish claw for the final piece in this set. I found one some months ago when walking along my creek and had wanted to try carving it ever since.

Just lovely work, love the detail in the claw. Are they going to be mounted on the burl box?
