    Default Learning how make a Mobius

    Here are my 1st two attempts at making a Mobius

    I have often wondered about doing a möbius, but am daunted by how to start. Perhaps I should just get up and give it a try.

    Make a pattern to look at while carving. Take a strip of paper 25mm wide and 200mm long or thereabouts (not critical). Bring the ends together to form a loop, but twist 1 end 180 degrees. Tape the joint where the ends meet. Now you can just set this on the bench and use it as a visual reference. If you want a challenge of something a bit harder, twist the 1 end 180 degrees three times. Just start...if you mess it up, it's only a small piece of wood so you can toss it and start over.
