Default JJ - first knife handle

I was approached by a hunter, a big fan of knives who wanted to have fun with a unique object. We therefore approached a good blacksmith cutler I know in order to obtain the blade of his choice and I took over for the handle.

For the cutler as for me it is a first and we are confronted with some beginner mistakes but the game is nice and we will see in the end what it will give ...

The cutler took out a beautiful blade on which he fixed a good piece of boxwood that I must carve according to the choice of the applicant.

I mentioned a few mistakes, here is one. The cutler thought that this nasty defect was only found on the surface, it is excusable he does not know the wood. So I'll have to do with it, the blade is stuck in the handle.

Is it worth filling that void with resin? You would have to do it after you've finished carving.

You are going to have a hard time shaping the handle up near the bolster. there is not enough timber left to play with, that with the knot, I would remove the handle and start again

Agree with others you may have a hard time shaping the handle now that it’s attached to the blade especially up against the Bolster.

I’ve been following this guy on YouTube, he seems a little odd at first, but his knife builds are truly beautiful so you may get some ideas hints.

thank you to all three of you for your comments. There are several difficulties on this round but I take it as a small challenge.
