Thanks for posting this. The female face is not the easiest thing to carve. Will follow with some interest.

    Knob Stick, eh.
Never heard of one of those before.
Are they a functional item? If so what does one do with a knob stick?
I like your drawings. A bit surprised there are 2 profiles and no front view one.
Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Ther knob stick is a functional stick with the top of the stick fitting into the palm of you hand its just i like my sticks to be decorative as well as functional.
I have made some strange sticks for people with oddest being a carving pineapple on top of a hiking pole. but ours is not to reason why.
As for a front profile of the face i will have to correct that and post one during the next stage of working it.
    Thanks for your interest.

managed to do a tad more whilst other stick where drying. Not to happy with one of the eyes got it slightly wrong? i think hopefully i can fix it , when its good daylight.
Typical woman difficult to carve.I have yet to shape the hair, not sure what to do use the wood burner on i to highlight the hair flow or not. it seems to fit into the palm of the hand now, had to make a trade of with size so it felt okay so its a longer narrower face than i would have liked? mayby i should have carved it all a tad smaller.? Still abit of shaping around the chin and cheeks..But dont want to paint it.

fitted a water buffalo horn collar need to cut the hairline in not totally sure how to tackle this because the end grain of the wood can be tricky to carve. still a bit of work to do on the face ,getting the eyes and ears right has been a problem so a bit of work to do on them
but it does feel okay in the palm of the hand otherwise it would have been a complete waste of time

trying to get the hair done with the rotary tool difficult places to reach into it,still some work to do on the hair
Cut it out with some small burrs trying to get a decent finish with diamond tips The end grain is difficut as the end grain seems to need a different pressure on the tools to cut as well..Also used some small fine files to improve the cut.

eyes are the hardest i think to get right , bit late now but the top of the ear is level with the eyebrow , with the hair l like to use small v chisel or small rotary bit with right angel edge on it

The eyes are slighly out of balance ,and are difficult to correct any mistakes on the wood , but as its a freebee my sister in law was pleased with it .
I did use rotary tools on it. but it does take more cleaning up when you use them. you get a much nicer cleaner cut with the chisels . Cutting into the end grain ist so asy its much quicker with the rotary tool on the flexi shaft..It was the 1st time i had done a head can only get better.
