Sanding don't you love sanding sanded to 120 grit on the inside planning to go to 400 depending on the shellac experiment at Robbos, in fact a lot depends on the shellacing at Robbos. We have a crack! Dooon't panic it's just a face crack that skirts around the meaty bit I say More of a concern is that I have to write notes for a reminder to which way's where

Your delightful “ladders” harkens allegorical interpretations, “Jack in the beanstalk” “Jacob’s Ladder, or Grimm’ fairy tales. Though the work is seemingly light and whimsical, it (the work) is complex. I really find the pieces engaging. Please post more images and if you care to share, your thoughts.

Attachment 210421I do care to share Jack but at the moment my thoughts are like this pile of letters I've cut out. They'll eventually be stained and rusty nailed on something or other to form some words I copied from Wikipedia and altered a bit:

    STANDARD PALLETS STANDARD HARDWOOD
    TREE PALLETS ARE SQUARE HARDWOOD
    TREE PALLETS WHICH ARE STANDARD
    IN AUSTRALIA AND NONSTANDARD
    ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD

Now how deep and meaninful is that Really wanting to get back to the ladder soon but I'm doing big hours at the grind stone. Thanks for your thoughts Jack you been to Australia yet?

Cutting up letters? Love it. While everyone else has moved on from the pallet challenge you are still finding inspiration. About time the rest of us have another pallet challenge perhaps. Been a bit quiet on that front I reckon.

Oh Springy, I've told you before to make sure the string line is tight before you cut along the line.

4 years? Have I been mucking round with wood for that long? Gotta quite mucking round soon and get serious. (Not as serious as that other serious woman wood worker though. )

Dodging showers all day but I was able to blend the rung ends into their legs and sanded the ladder to #240 grit ready for red dye.

    Default Red

Between showers, sunshine, rain squalls, hail, hot water, warm dye and dogs the first application of the famous U-Beaut water dye of the red kind went on and soaked in a bit I hope. I'll leave it in the shed for a week and sand it down to #320 grit ready for the next dose/bout

Hi Springy, From what I can remember of them your previous ladders were left natural in colour. What's the motivation for red this time?
