Laminated mask
Here's a piece I did a while back, carved from laminated pines (hoop and paranah) and western red cedar, with a spring and some aluminium tubing added to the mix. There is a bit of turned work in there. Its meant to be vaguely mask-like.
The 'horns' are based on an old retort clamp I have sitting above my worksbench, which always makes me think of the 3-fingered tiki of Moari art...instead of making it into hands I grafted them into the head. I was going to work the laminations into teeth, but didn't like it, so cut the whole thing in half and used aluminium tubing between the pieces.
Overall size 1000mm x 300mm
Cheers,Andy Mac
