Lakes entrance has a bunch of them down the main street.
Also cut from trees that stood there.

Ledgerwood trees
Yes I saw them a couple of years ago, fantastic work, the same bloke also done some at Campbell town(tassie)I'll try to ad a couple of pics . Also on the lakes entrance carvings, going on the style, and the subject the one we have here in Paynesville, an ANZAC digger in a boat, I would hazzard a guess and say the same fella carved it also, CD

Ledgerwood updated
Recently we holidayed in Tassie and I saw the carved trees in Ledgerwood. I was going to start a thread and then realised somebody else would very likely have already posted a thread. Indeed they had.
The original link in this 2012 thread seems to have been lost so here are a few pix from a very dreary day about a week ago.

I have separated this last pic as there was a little story to it. I commented after reading the associated plaque that it was a departure from the fallen soldiers as they had carved a statue of a local thief.
"What?" said my travelling companions. "Yes" says I. "He was a burglar: Probably Tasmania's attempt to upstage Ned Kelly."
They laughed. My turn to say "What?"
They explained I had misread the plaque. "He was a bugler they said." I looked again at the statue and conceded the point. Must wear my glasses...even for quite large type.

Quite amazing sculptural carvings. Well worth a visit if in Tassie.
