Where do you get logs from in SE Melbourne for practicing chainsaw?
I was given an electric chainsaw and it seems to work pretty well, has more grunt that I thought it would have.
I thought I might try carving a mushroom for the garden.
I just don't know where to get a log from. I'm in a south east melb suburb.
I'm not after any rare timber because chances are I'm going to suck so I just want something to hack at for practice.

You might try 'tree surgeons' in the yellow pages. Just explain what you want it for and they may hold back a piece out of the multcher.

The Log.
Hi V/G,
You may also try the Local Council, Parks & Garden Dept.
There Is also a Chap, Kevin Gilders, in Notting Hill, 9 5614606.
He is a Chainsaw Carver, may even be able to help you out as well.
Might even have a web site, forgot to look.Regards,
issatree.

The Chainsaw Carvings.
Hi Again, V/G.,
Well, I found time to have a look for you, on " The Carvers ".
So if you Google,;
www.kevingilderschainsawcarver.com
www.johnbradychainsawcarver.com
You will get all the Info you may want on C/Carving.
Great lot of Photos, with a ounce of age, but worth a look.
I'm certain, if Kevin is around, he could most likly find a log for you.
There was always a C/Comp. at SAFE, Seymour, ea. Feb.
So have fun, as that is what 2 Chaps & the Ladies are doing.Regards,
issatree.

A whole stack of pine logs in Harkaway near the round about. They are clearing the pine from the park by the side of the road. Mostly huge logs, but I think there might be a few small bits there. Might need a bloke to help you retrieve it. :S
