It's amazing what other eyes can see.....first take I did not see anything, then on reflection and suggestion saw many things. Take your time Cliff and come up with a winner. Kerry

.
Seriously fun bit of wood there. I was reading about Picasso last night and all his simple images, such as the bull's head, has tailed off from something more complex. He was interested in how an emotion or feeling can carry through from work to work, regardless of how many additions or subtractions are made. He also said most of the time he just gets the paint brush - or whatever tool he was using - moving, and a familiar theme (to him) would show up.
Myself, on that piece of wood I'd just start by 'cleaning it up' and more and more possibilities will emerge to the eye and mind as you keep turning and handling the block. I'd start with the mini-grinder perhaps. I've found that if I see something that really grabs me then I'd just leave it and work somewhere else, such as the wonderful face there. I guess that's how anyone would approach it.

Next I took to it with the Arbotech Industrial carver.
I removed all the sharp edges from the chainsaw cuts & anything that was cracked or loose.
The next step will be the Arbotech Mini Carver.
Unfortunately the pics aren't very good 'cos they are taken with a flash just after dark.Cliff.
