Ta.... not sure if I'll remember it though.
"With regard to the issue of content, the iconicity of the figurative-narrative line-space matrix contextualize the accessibility of the work."
The Fog index calculator gives it a score of 14, that isn't too bad but in means bugr'all to me.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Had HEAPS of problems with the black plinth but it is finished.
The strange out of focus UFO in the middle the shot is one of the reasons I had so many problems... it is one of the bloody stupid insects that just HAD to land on the wet paint.Cliff.

While the black paint was drying & all the stuck insects were dieing, I lad the log over & fitted some right angle brackets to secure it to the plinth.
I had to reach in through the hole at the side/bottom to screw it to the plinth... took longer than I had planned too.
I managed to get 3 of the 4 screws in with the battery drill but the last one had to be done by hand due to the location.Cliff.

OK, finished & installed at the gallery, shame about the Sun through the window as it made it hard to get a good pic.
I'll get another one on opening night.
I got lots of good comments from the other exhibitors.Cliff.

hhhm... are you sure about the chains? If the idea is to promote locking up carbon, you don't want to make it an image of slavery, do you?

The theme of the exhibition is 'Protest & Protect' This sad old soul has chained himself to the tree in protest as an attempt to protect it.
The backwards message I hope to convey in this piece is that letting the old trees rot in the forest does not lock up the carbon.
When I was setting it up I had a lady come & tell me that it had another meaning to her 'cos she had read of a culture that tied their dying to a tree to preserve the spirit.
Thanks.
I spotted it at a friend's place last week, they got it from Bali earlier this year. I have borrowed it.Cliff.

welcome to the "art" world Cliff, where every viewer of your piece will have an entirely different understanding of it,
and if you try to explain it's meaning.... they won't believe you.
Your job is to don your beret and nod (sage like) at every different interpretation.
anyways...it reminds me of what we have to do to uncle Bob at the family barbeque after he's had a few vodkas
good luck with the exhibition, it looks great

Thanks Cliff. Further evidence that everyone can see the some thing differently.
And I just saw that Underfoot beat me to it...
Maybe a bit more iconicity of the figurative-narrative line-space matrix would have helped me to contextualize the accessibility of the work....

At least one person worked it out all by themselves...
She said "Is your piece a bit.... tongue in cheek?"
Some photos, I didn't take them so the lighting is a bit wrong.
One shows the true colours but is a bit 'side on' the other is front on but a bit washed out.
I'll play with the exposure in Lightroom & see if I can fix it.
Edit: A friend has just sent me a copy of one she took.Last edited by Cliff Rogers; 6th August 2010 at 11:26 PM. Reason: To add another photo
