    Default Queensland Lovespoon Completed

I have now finished this lovespoon commission carved in Queensland White Beech. It's about 330mm X 80mm X 22mm and is finished with very thin polyurethane brushed on and wiped off, some artist's oil glazing and finally 'EEE' wax. The spoon's bowl is gilded in 24 carat gold leaf and the back has an inlaid heart of Queensland Silver Ash. The Inlay will receive an inscription decided on by the person who commissioned it.

The final recipients live in Queensland so that is why I chose the particular timbers used. For the most part a lovespoon is carved from a single piece of timber, as this one is, but inlayed work is an acceptable variation on the rule and I wanted a slight contrast in colour.

I can see a few hours work in that, they should be pleased with the result.
