Amazing and as always very original, I love the combination of metal and wood. One question, have you always had the ability to come up with original pieces or is it something you have developed over time?. Being fairly new to the game it's something I struggle with.

Like the differing woods and techniques, textures etc. All beautifully done...but...in the spirit of CC...I don't like the articulation of the legs so much.
They look bowed under and suggest collapse or resting a bit rather than venturing forth. Perhaps intended???

    Don't hate me.

    I like it !
It makes me think about, how do they call this... "steam-punk" aesthetic. A cross-over between XIXth steam machines and new technologies with a spoon of fantastic.

Interesting question Rtc...I'm not certain I have an answer...As an artist I value originality very highly...I don't see new ideas as something particularly elusive..the concern is mostly weeding out the ones that have little merit...I will need to think on this further..

dang...another thing I can't give a reason for..I tend to work from sketches that have resolved themselves on paper, and they looked ok at the time..however I see what you mean..
..The intention (visually) was to construct this piece vertically and yet have each component (boat, wings, birds, fish, wheels etc) having a contrasting forward direction..
having a look back at the sketches, those curved legs are just the results of some gestural drawn lines..another thing to think on..
    good questions both..

what if the hokey pokey is really what it's all about?

I've enjoyed the birds, a design style that I've seen in some of your previous work.
To me, the flock always looks so terribly concerned and worried. Serves them right.
My computer can't resolve the submarine mechanical construct. Possibly the birds know it's there?
As usual finished and polished with such flair. The mix of woods looks good.

I can't help thinking of Luneigs cartoons when I see those birds, somewhat sad and whimsical

    Hi Undie
I haven't been here much over the last year but when I do pop in yours are some of the first posts I look for. I'm doing full time sculpting now too so will have to post some of my bits. Keep up the fantastic work, you are a great inspiration. Love the Cranes(?) just cruising along up the top, your pieces are becoming more involved and constructed as the years go by, I like it.

PS I hope mine will do the same
