relief carving a sign
hey everyone, i am doing a sign with pine limbs,bark,needles and cones,i have hoged out the waste areas with a router,which leaves the above mentioned,what is the best way to carve out the bark,needles and cones,like raising the bark off the limb.the individual pine needles and the leaves of the cones? any help is appriciated!

Hi Hen,
Imagine that it is in layers, messes with your brain a bit, but draw it all up on the same plain then to get the relief remove material from the top, by removing background by default it raises the fore ground. Practice a bit on some scrap before embarking on the main project. and if ya stuff up incorporate it into the design!

How do the needles and cones get into the act? Before or after the carving?
A picture of the work so far might help to get more advice.
