Sharpening service?
I have a Pfeil 9/10 chisel that I just can't get an edge right on. I used it to beat some Sollies Ebony into submission and it has never recovered. It needs a professional, any ideas folks? I'm in the Blue Mountains.

Sharpening service?
I asked a carpenter that yesterday in blackheath and it appears penrith is the closest he knew of. Happy for another answer though as I have some kit to sharpen.

I injured a smaller version of yours by asking too much of it against a bit of hard hard Eucalypt once and took a big chip out of the leading edge. It's never been the same but I found I had to level up the cutting edge then take back the wings a bit to get it cutting well again. The trick is to maintain an even bevel across the arch. Perhaps revisit a store that sells them and compare against a new one as a yard stick.

Not sure what a pro service would charge to sharpen a gouge but would it be worth it? A new chisel is $32 from Carbatec. Just saying
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Thanks everyone,
Crash, where and who in Penrith?
NZ, PM sent,
Archer, that is a really good point, Carbatec is two blocks from my office and I need some other stuff there as well, but I hate throwing good stuff away.."We must never become callous. Something to think about.
there is a place in penrith yes but if its the place I'm thinking of there hight in price.
carving tools are not like carpenters chisels. There not like woodturners chisels, there is a art to getting a sharp carving tool trust me,
pfeil tools are not to bad,
Dustra can be a pain in the bum, till they meet the CBN wheel
carving tools take a lot of hand stoning and buffing to get a nice edge once you have that edge it's just about keeping it by light stropping it and light stoning it,DANGER!!!!I'm Dyslexic Spelling may offend!!!!!

Sharpening service?
According to carpenter most of the businesses that offer sharpening just use this crowd
Leuco Australia
5 Marigold Pl Revesby NSW 2212
They pickup from the business and drop off. Maybe give them a call and see what they can offer in the way of pick up , drop off and sharpening service.
Hope they can help.Wood burns faster when you have to cut and chop it yourself.

That's rite they do offer a pick up and drop off and but you pay for it
if the edge is chipped or in a bad way they will class it as a re shape and charge more
the do a lot of knives.
onece agen that is a carpenter and carpenters use a strate edge chisel were wood carvers use a carving tool with a radius
its like taking a car to a bike shop for a service yes there both a form of transport and both have wheels and a seat and pedels but there not the same
if you can get to penrith Tuesday I can have it back to you Thursday mate no charge or you can come over and I can show you how to do itDANGER!!!!I'm Dyslexic Spelling may offend!!!!!
