That's not a gun!
Finally finished this piece last weekend. Well it still needs a base for displaying but that will be a walk in the park.
750mm long x 450mm high x 120mm wide.
Sassafras,King Billy pine ,plywood, blackwood, celery top pine, aluminium, stainless steel, dye, lacquer, glue.

Probably should have tacked it onto the end of the "A new source of inspiration thread" but somehow got the feeling people were sick of reading it.

Well I can certainly admire the craftsmanship of this it truly is excellent .
I don't think I personally though would want a sculpture of an object which whole purpose is to kill fellow humans nor glorify it in any way.

I used to shoot handguns, and I reckon it's pretty well spot on. What calibre is it, 25mm? Guns don't kill people, it's idiots that hold them that do it!!!!!!
To grow old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

Really enjoyed watching the whole process, great job, if it was to original scale it would require a license it looks so authentic

That is a masterpiece of illusion. Thank you for taking the time to post process pictures.
Do you know anyone who is a member of a gun club with regularly scheduled target pistol sessions?
In many clubs, members in good standing have permission to bring a guest.
This has got to be squared away with the Range Officer for good form.
Build a "reloading block", say 20 places, and make up a dozen rounds for it.
Unwrap that and put it on the shooting bench at the club.
Unwrap the gun and put that on the bench.
Get the cameras ready!
I've been a member of a club for upwards of 40 years. In my pistol shooting hey-days, there was always
considerable excitement when somebody brought an exotic target pistol to the range.
A couple of phone calls and we would be on our way to my club.

Mike, thanks for the compliment. You can rest easy that no one is going to get shot with this one. It's only a sculpture, same as this violent looking piece which is way to heavy to actually swing at anyone. Guess that's was qualifies it for art. Non functional.

KB PensNmore, close guess. Bore is 28mm. I agree that people are more the problem than the object.
Thanks guys for the other kind comments.
