I keep seeing a bob tail/blue tongue lizard...

You are a fashioner of tools - are these like knives? Tool making seems like another dark art...darker than carving. Very dark. Black almost. And shrouded.

This Teak is nice to carve. It has a characteristic smell but it is straight grained and quite stable. It is hard but not hard like Ebony or Ironwood. The tools run straight, particularly when they are kept sharp but will split if you get a bit over enthusiastic. The white things are scrapers made from reciprocating saw blades. Much the same as a woodturning scraper. I made these to suit the shapes in this carving. Much easier to use than sandpaper for this job. They wouldnt work on Pine or Jelutong but are great for harder timber.

You have put some time and effort into crafting a labour of love for someone special to you. The result has been a nicely designed and worked spoon from what must have been a difficult timber, but also re-cycled, and worked with some home-made tools, which must be all part of the meaning.
